About Me

I am Dr. Arman Arisman (Arman Wu), an architect and technology manager based in Indonesia. With over 15 years of experience in public planning, I navigate the complex intersection of architectural form, digital systems, and design cognition.

The Intersection of Logic and Intuition

In my practice, I do more than just produce drawings. I design workflows. My interest lies in how algorithmic logic can rationalize geometric complexity and how digital tools influence the human thought process. This curiosity led me to specialize in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Computational Design, and Human–Computer Interaction (HCI). I see code not just as a tool, but as a language to explore architectural expression.

Research & Cognition

My academic journey—spanning bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies—has been driven by a specific question: How do designers think when they use digital tools? My research in Design Cognition investigates the cognitive load and creative leaps that occur within parametric modeling environments. I aim to bridge the gap between abstract computation and practical design intuition.

Open Source Advocate

Beyond the studio and academia, I am a firm believer in open knowledge. I actively contribute to the Fedora Project and write for Fedora Magazine, sharing tutorials on open-source software and desktop system development. Whether it is optimizing a Linux kernel or scripting in Julia, I enjoy tinkering with the tools that empower creators.

Connect

I am always open to discussing research collaborations, architectural computation, or the latest in open-source tech.
